FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:

How can I tell if my home needs a new roof?

Typical shingle roofs can last approximately 12-20 years, depending on numerous factors. Knowing when you need a new roof can aid in avoiding disaster. There are three important factors to consider: age, appearance, and leaks. Regular inspections of your roof will help you catch physical damages (such as broken shingles or loss in granule surfacing) and determine when to replace your roof. Brad Smith Roofing offers inspections, at no charge to you, to assess the condition of your roof.

What is the cost of a new roof?

There are several variables that determine the price of a new roof, including its size, pitch, accessibility and cost of materials. Because of this, prices for a new roof can range drastically. That being said, setting a Free appointment with a Brad Smith representative is necessary for an accurate estimated price.

Do you offer different roofing styles and colors?

We do!  As master elite contractors for GAF we recommend the GAF Timberline HD shingles that comes in numerous colors. However, there are other manufacturers that offer other styles and colors, in which we also install.

Can you explain what an Ice Dam is?

An ice dam is a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow from draining off the roof. The water that backs up behind the dam can leak into a home and cause damage to walls, ceilings, insulation, and other areas.

Do I need to be home during the roof replacement process?

You do not need to be home during the process; however we do ask that you are available by phone/email if we have any questions for you at the time of tear off.

What Warranty options are there?

The Warranty is based on the type of shingle that is chosen.  A Brad Smith Roofing representative would be happy to show you the options available.

Does Brad Smith Roofing offer financing?

Yes we do, we offer 12 Months Same-As-Cash on New Roof Installations, and more traditional long term solutions. See here for more information.

What is roof flashing?

Flashing, usually made from aluminum, is one of the most critical components of your roof because it works to prevent water from entering through holes in the waterproof membrane and between shingles. Flashing is also installed along the eaves and rake (slanted portion) of the roof to help shed water away from the walls, and may be installed during wall construction as well.

Once a Contract is signed, what is the next step?

We are getting a new gutter system; will they be installed at the same time as our new roof?

Your gutter system will be installed after your new roof to insure there is no damage to the gutters during the roofing process. This usually takes place within 1-2 weeks after your new roof installation by our dedicated gutter crew.

How long does it take to install my roof?

On most homes, we will typically be done in one day, depending on the size and complexity. The time involved is substantially affected by the weather, as well.
